Impact of Agronomic Practices on Population and Diversity of Soil Oribatid Mites
Abstract
The present study evaluated the effects of various agronomic practices, including tillage, irrigation, fertilizer application, and pesticide use, on the population of oribatid mites. Soil samples were collected from different experimental sites across the Navsari Agricultural University campus, South Gujarat. Among the agronomic practices investigated, ploughing, rotavator operation, inter-culturing, puddling, sowing, transplanting, surface irrigation, hand weeding, pesticide applications [imidacloprid 17.8 SL, imidacloprid 30.5 SC, thiamethoxam (12.6%) + lambda-cyhalothrin (9.5%) ZC, diflubenzuron 25 WP, Bacillus thuringiensis, cypermethrin 25 EC and azadirachtin 1500 ppm] harvesting and crop rotation exerted significant effects on the population dynamics of oribatid mites.
