Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

At the Journal of Soil Future Research (JSFR), we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and originality in scientific publishing. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. This policy outlines our approach to preventing, detecting, and addressing plagiarism at all stages of manuscript submission and publication.

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs when an author uses another individual’s work without appropriate acknowledgment or presents someone else’s ideas, data, or content as their own. This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Copying text, figures, tables, or images without proper citation.
  2. Using portions of another’s work without permission or referencing the original source.
  3. Self-plagiarism, which involves reusing substantial parts of one's own previously published work without citing the original publication.

Plagiarism Detection
All manuscripts submitted to JSFR undergo a thorough plagiarism screening using advanced plagiarism detection tools prior to the peer review process. Manuscripts are evaluated for similarity against previously published works and online sources.

Handling Plagiarism
The actions taken in response to detected plagiarism are as follows:

  1. Less than 5% Plagiarism: A manuscript ID will be issued, and the manuscript will be sent back to the author for minor revisions.
  2. 5% to 15% Plagiarism: No manuscript ID will be assigned. The author will be notified and requested to revise the overlapping content appropriately.
  3. More than 15% Plagiarism: The manuscript will be returned without being considered for review. Major revisions will be required, and the revised manuscript must be resubmitted as a new submission.
  4. More than 30% Plagiarism: The manuscript will be outright rejected. Authors may revise and resubmit only after substantial corrections. Submissions with this level of plagiarism typically fail to meet the ethical standards of JSFR.

Post-Publication Plagiarism
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JSFR will conduct a detailed investigation. Depending on the outcome, the journal may take the following actions:

  1. Notify the author’s affiliated institution and any relevant funding bodies.
  2. Clearly mark the plagiarized article on each page of the published PDF.
  3. Issue a formal retraction notice if warranted by the severity of the misconduct.

Author Responsibility
By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Soil Future Research, authors affirm that their work is original, properly cited, and has not been published elsewhere. Authors must clearly distinguish between quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing, ensuring all external sources are accurately acknowledged. Both intentional and unintentional plagiarism will be addressed with equal seriousness.

Self-Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism is also deemed unethical. Authors must cite their own previously published work when reusing any part of it in a new submission. Any reuse of past material without appropriate referencing will be considered a violation of the journal’s policies.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing
JSFR ensures that all submissions pass a rigorous originality check before entering the peer review process. Authors are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards by submitting only original content and accurately citing all sources. The journal reserves the right to request clarification or citation documentation in cases of suspected plagiarism.
